# Why should I customize my sending domain name in Sarbacane Campaigns?

A domain in your name improves the deliverability of your campaigns and reassures your recipients.

By default, your campaigns are sent with shared domains, used by every Sarbacane customer who has no custom domain. With your own domain, your emails are more likely to reach the inbox, and your recipients recognize your brand from the sender address.

## What a custom domain changes

**Your reputation depends only on you.** Mailbox providers judge a sender on the reputation of its domain. On a shared domain, it also depends on other customers' sends. With your domain, it depends only on your own practices.

**Your emails pass authentication checks.** Google, Yahoo and Microsoft now require SPF, DKIM and DMARC alignment to deliver emails. This alignment is only possible with a domain you own.

**Your communication is consistent.** Spam filters compare the sender address with the links in the message. An email sent from marketing@your-brand.com, with links to your-brand.com, inspires trust. An address such as your-brand@gmail.com pointing to your-brand.com looks suspicious, to filters and to your readers.

**Your tracked links carry your name.** The custom domain also replaces the shared domain in the links of your campaigns, your Sarbacane Pages pages and your Sarbacane Forms forms.

## How do I customize my domain?

If you already have a domain name, create a sending subdomain on it. Otherwise, buy one directly in Sarbacane Campaigns. The article [Which method should I choose to send with my own domain in Sarbacane Campaigns?](https://help.sarbacane.com/en/articles/175.md) compares the two methods.
