# How do I buy a domain name in Sarbacane Campaigns?

Book a domain name dedicated to your sends: Sarbacane handles its configuration, with no setup at a hosting provider.

If you do not have a domain name, buy one directly in Sarbacane Campaigns. Sarbacane configures it for you, with no record to add at a hosting provider. A domain name costs €25 excl. tax per year. Allow five minutes to order it, then a few hours for configuration.

## Prerequisites

-   You are the account owner or an administrator.
    
-   You have a domain credit. If you do not, you buy it during the order (see [What are domain credits, and how can they be obtained?](https://help.sarbacane.com/en/articles/164.md)).
    
-   The domain applies to your whole account: Sarbacane Campaigns, Sarbacane Pages and Sarbacane Forms.
    

## Steps

1.  In Sarbacane Campaigns, in the left sidebar, click the gear icon (**Settings**), then in the left menu, click Domains.
    
2.  Above the list of domains, click **Add a domain**.
    
3.  Under **New domain**, click **Select**. The **Order your domain name** window opens.

4.  In the **Domain name** field, enter the name you want, in lowercase, with no spaces or dots (only hyphens are accepted).
    
5.  In the list to the right of the field, choose the extension (for example .com).
    
6.  Click **Check** to see whether the name is available.

**Caution**: a purchased domain name cannot be refunded. Check the spelling before you confirm.

7.  If the name is available, click **Book** if you already have a domain credit, or **Order** to buy it and go to payment.
    
8.  Once the domain is active, set it as the default: at the top right of the Domains page, select it in the **Default domain** list. Otherwise, select it in each campaign, in the Message step.
    

## Expected result

A message confirms that your domain was successfully registered. Sarbacane configures the domain within a few hours. In the meantime, your campaigns are sent with Sarbacane's default domains. The state of the domain is shown on the Domains page.

**Important**: for 48 hours after the purchase, you can only send tests, because the anti-spam organization Spamhaus blocks newly created domains. Then wait about a week before your first large sends, and increase volumes gradually (see [Warming up a sending domain or subdomain](https://help.sarbacane.com/en/articles/111.md)).

**Note**: a domain name is valid for one year. You are notified by email before it expires, and you can renew it from the Domains page (see [How to renew a domain name](https://help.sarbacane.com/en/articles/182.md)).

## Troubleshooting

### The domain name is not available

It is already taken, or already registered in one of your delegated subdomains. Try another name or another extension.

### The name starts with ville-, mairie-, agglo-, cc-, cg- or cr-

These prefixes are refused on some extensions. Choose another name or another extension.

### I bought my domain, but my campaigns are sent with another address

The domain was not selected in the campaign. In the Message step, click the sender address, then the small arrow to its right, and choose your domain from the list. To avoid doing this every time, set it as the default (step 8). See [Why is the sender address shown not the one I entered in Sarbacane Campaigns?](https://help.sarbacane.com/en/articles/41.md).
