# How do I fill in the sender and subject of my email campaign in Sarbacane Campaigns?

Choose the name and address your contacts see, the address that receives their replies and the subject of your email.

In Sarbacane Campaigns, the header of your email campaign (sender, reply address, subject, pre-header) is filled in at the top of the Message step, whatever the creation mode. The sender name and the subject are the first two things your contacts see in their inbox.

## Prerequisites

- A Sarbacane Campaigns licence.

- A sending address on a domain declared in Sarbacane Campaigns (Settings › Domains). This is mandatory: you cannot send with a Sarbacane domain. A declared domain authenticates your sendings and improves their deliverability.

- An email campaign at the Message step.

## Steps

### Fill in the header

1. At the top of the Message step, on the sender line, enter in the first field the name shown to your contacts (your company, a product or a person), then the sending address in the next field. Both are mandatory.

2. On the same line, in the reply section, enter the name and address that will receive your contacts' replies. The address is mandatory.

3. On the subject line, enter the subject of the email. On the right, the ideal length indicator helps you keep it short enough.

4. On the pre-header line, enter the sentence shown next to or below the subject in the inbox.

5. To insert data about your contacts (first name, last name…), click in the field, then on {} to the left of the field and choose the column. To add an emoji, click the face icon next to {}.

**Best practice**: avoid reply addresses such as noreply@your-company.com. Your contacts like to be able to reply to the sender, and these addresses can harm deliverability. Use an address that someone reads, such as marketing@your-company.com.

### Add an address in copy (CC)

1. In the top right corner of the header, next to Split A/B, click **Advanced settings**.

2. Click the advanced fields option.

3. In the advanced fields window, turn on the carbon copy (CC) switch, then confirm with the check mark.

4. On the new carbon copy (CC) line of the header, enter the display name and the address.

**Note**: the address in copy is shown in the email your contacts receive, so that it looks like an ordinary email, but it does not receive the campaign. It does, however, receive your contacts' replies.

**Note**: to attach a file, see [How do I add an attachment to my campaign?](https://help.sarbacane.com/en/articles/18.md) An attachment makes the email heavier and can increase the number of credits used.

## Expected result

The header is filled in and its address fields are no longer framed in red. Your contacts will see the sender name, the subject and the pre-header in their inbox, and their replies will go to the reply address you entered.

## Troubleshooting

### The sender field is already filled in

It is pre-filled with the information given when the account was opened. You can change it directly in the campaign. To stop pre-filling this field, in Sarbacane Campaigns, open Settings › Campaigns, Email tab, sending preferences section, and turn off the switch that pre-fills the sender field.

### The sending address I want to use is not accepted

The address must belong to a domain declared in Settings › Domains. Declare your domain first, then go back to the campaign.

### The person in copy (CC) did not receive my campaign

This is normal: the address in copy does not receive the campaign, only your contacts' replies.
