# How do I fill in my campaign header so that it gets opened in Sarbacane Campaigns?

Alias, addresses, subject and preheader: the rules so that your recipients recognize you and open your emails.

The header is what your recipients see before opening the email: the sender name, the subject and the preheader. They often decide on this basis whether to open, ignore or delete your campaign, and spam filters check the subject first. Check the points below in the Message step of each campaign.

## Steps

1. Sender alias: enter the name of your company or brand, and keep the same one from one campaign to the next. Do not leave it empty, otherwise the sender address is displayed. Avoid repeated capital letters and symbols (MY COMPANY, !!!).

2. Sender address: use an address on your own domain, chosen from the list rather than typed by hand.

3. Reply alias: avoid generic names such as “no-reply”.

4. Reply address: enter an address that exists and is read.

5. Subject: keep it short, between 30 and 45 characters, so that it is displayed in full; the length bar under the field guides you. Avoid excessive punctuation, capital letters, promotional or alarming terms (free, promo, urgent, etc.) and mixing languages. Vary your subjects from one campaign to the next, and add the contact's first name when relevant.

6. Preheader: complete the subject without repeating it, with a detail, a benefit or a hook. Keep it short, as space is limited on mobile, and consistent with the content of the email.

## Expected result

In the inbox, your recipients immediately recognize the sender and understand the value of the email before opening it.
