# How to manage tracking pixel consent on synchronized lists in Sarbacane?

Can tracking pixel consent be synchronized in Sarbacane?

## The 2 methods to control the tracking pixel field in Sarbacane

### Method 1: Update via Sarbacane API (on an ongoing basis)

Send the consent value directly to the contact record via the API rather than in the list (e.g. "pixelOptin": "1", "yes", "true" or "true" for active status or "0", "no", "false" or "false" for inactive). This method is suitable for new form registrations or real-time updates.

### Method 2: Import into a standard list (one-time or recurring)

1. Create a standard list separate from your synchronized list.

2. Import your contact file containing the consent column and the value "1", "yes", "true" or "true" for active status or "0", "no", "false" or "false" for inactive.

3. At the column mapping step, link your consent column to the system field "consent to tracking pixel".

### What you need to see

Once the update is complete (via API or import), the value of the tracking pixel field is refreshed on the contact (directory) card and is reflected in all lists where it appears, including within your synchronized list.

Note: you can then delete this standard list which is only there to update your existing contacts.

## Push Sarbacane consent back to your external source (Custom).

No native Sarbacane connector offers automatic return synchronization to an external system. To push back the "active"/"inactive" status of your contact to your CRM or database (Magento, PrestaShop, WordPress, Salesforce, MySQL), you must develop a custom integration with your development team in two steps:

1. **Query the Sarbacane API** : use the read endpoint `GET /v1/lists/{listId}/contacts` to list and filter contacts in a list (by email, phone number or date) and retrieve their system fields, including `pixelOptin`.

2. **Feed the external source** : develop a script that transmits the retrieved data to the API specific to your external tool (Magento API, PrestaShop, WordPress, Salesforce or direct SQL write) by matching contacts by their email address.

> **Important** : there is no endpoint that allows you to query a single contact directly by its identifier; the search must necessarily be performed by using the filtered list `GET /v1/lists/{listId}/contacts`.
