# How does access restriction by IP work?

Allow access to your account only from specific IP addresses or IP ranges.

You can limit access by allowing only specific IP addresses or IP ranges. This feature protects your account against unauthorized logins.

If no restriction is applied, all IPs can access the account.

## Prerequisites

- Be the owner or an administrator of the account.

## Steps

### Open the Access restriction tab

1. In the top-right corner of the screen, click your avatar.

2. In the left-hand menu, click **Security**.

3. Click the **Access restriction** tab.

### Add an IP address or IP range to the list of allowed IPs

1. In the **Access restriction** tab, click the **Add a restriction** button.

2. A new screen appears:

    - Enter the IP address (for example, 192.168.0.1) or the IP range (for example, 192.168.0.0/24) to allow.

    - Check that the address matches the expected format, using the help text shown in the field.

> **Important**: make sure the allowed IPs include those of the administrators, to avoid blocking anyone by mistake.

3. Click **Save**.

> **Note**: by default, all IPs are allowed if no IP has been added to the list.

### Edit or delete a restriction

1. **Edit a restriction**

    - Click the edit icon next to the restriction.

    - Make the changes you need, then click **Save**.

2. **Delete one or more restrictions**

    - Select the checkboxes next to the restrictions to delete.

    - Click the **Delete selection** button to delete them all at once.

## Expected result

Your account can only be accessed from the IPs in the list. Existing restrictions are displayed in a table:

- **IP / IP range**

- **Creation date**

- **User who created the entry**

- **Modification date**

- **User who modified the entry**

> **Best practice**: review the restrictions regularly to keep an appropriate level of security.
