An unsubscribe list is an essential feature in Sarbacane Contacts. It allows you to efficiently manage your contacts by excluding recipients whom you do not wish to contact or who do not wish to be contacted. It plays a key role in the deliverability of your messages and the management of your communication campaigns. Learn what an unsubscribe list is and how to use it to optimise your mailings.
An unsubscribe list is a specific list of contacts that you exclude from your mailings. These contacts can be excluded from your mailings via their email address or their telephone number. Adding a contact to a blacklist means that you will no longer send any messages to them.
There are two types of unsubscribe lists:
Unsubscribe lists with contacts who have unsubscribed from your communications
Suppression lists that allow you to voluntarily exclude certain contacts from one or more of your communications. For example, you can choose to exclude your competitors from your email campaigns by blacklisting their domain name, or to exclude respondents when sending a follow-up message asking your contacts to register for an event.
The NPAI list, which groups together all invalid or unavailable addresses, is managed separately.
By excluding unwanted or irrelevant contacts, you increase the chances that your messages will reach the inboxes of legitimate recipients.
If a contact wishes to unsubscribe from your communications, you must ensure that they are added to the correct unsubscribe list to ensure that you no longer send messages to them.
Attention : The unsubscribe lists created in Sarbacane Contacts only allow you to manage contacts for email, SMS and automated campaigns in Sarbacane Campaigns. The Sarbacane Sendkit and Sarbacane Engage applications each have their own blacklist management that does not go through the Sarbacane Contacts application
You are free to use your unsubscribe lists either as an unsubscribe list as such or as a suppression list.
To create an unsubscribe list in Sarbacane,
Go to the Sarbacane Contacts application.
Click on the “Create a list” panel, then select “Unsubscribe list”.
Add your unsubscribed contacts:
By importing a file
By manually entering the contacts concerned
By copying and pasting the contacts concerned
By associating this unsubscribe list with one of your email or SMS campaigns. As soon as a contact clicks on your unsubscribe link, they will be automatically added to this blacklist. Note that you can associate several unsubscribe lists with your email or SMS campaigns.
To update an existing unsubscribe list:
Go to the Sarbacane Contacts application.
Go to the “Contact lists” section from the left side menu
Then click on the “Unsubscription list” tab
Click on the list you wish to edit, then add or delete the desired contact(s).
You can also blacklist a domain name via a dedicated tab and thus exclude all email addresses that share a common domain name.
The NPAI list is managed separately and makes it possible to exclude email addresses that returned a temporary or permanent error during previous sends.
Please note that there can be only one NPAI list per Sarbacane account.
This list is updated automatically with each of your sends. However, for your very first campaign send with Sarbacane, we recommend uploading the list of NPAI contacts (or bounces) from your previous email / SMS marketing solution in order to exclude invalid addresses from the outset and thus avoid damaging the sender reputation associated with your sending subdomain. Indeed, a high number of invalid addresses is a sign of a poorly maintained list and is often associated with techniques used by spammers.
In summary, unsubscription lists are a valuable tool for improving the deliverability of your messages and efficiently managing your contacts in Sarbacane. By using this feature appropriately, you can optimise your communication campaigns and maintain a relationship of trust with your audience.
