In Sarbacane Contacts, every list belongs to one of three types: a standard list is filled when you add contacts yourself, a synchronized list updates automatically from an external tool, and an unsubscribe list excludes contacts from your sends. You choose the type when you create the list.
A Sarbacane Campaigns license (Sarbacane Contacts is included).
You add, edit or delete contacts yourself: by importing a file (.xlsx, .txt or .csv), by entering them manually or by copying and pasting. A standard list can also be linked to a Sarbacane Forms form: it then fills up with each new sign-up, with no action on your part.
It suits a database you update from time to time, or a list of newsletter subscribers collected with a form.
It fills up and updates automatically from an external source:
an SQL database;
a file uploaded to the FTP server that Sarbacane provides;
an online store (PrestaShop, Magento, Shopify…);
a CRM (Teamleader, Salesforce…);
a website (WordPress…);
a Google Sheets file (via Zapier);
any other source synchronized via API.
It suits contacts that already live in another tool, when you want to avoid repeated imports.
The contacts it contains are excluded from your campaigns sent with Sarbacane Campaigns. It gathers people who unsubscribed through a campaign's unsubscribe link, and people who reported a message as spam (Complaints tab). A Default opt-out list already exists in your account. You can create others, for example one per type of communication, or use one as a suppression list to deliberately exclude certain contacts from a send.
Note: an unsubscribe list can also exclude an entire domain name, from its domain tab. It applies only to campaigns sent with Sarbacane Campaigns: Sarbacane Sendkit and Sarbacane Engage manage their own exclusions.
Note: the Bounces tab in Contact lists is not a type of list you create: the bounce list (NPAI) is unique to your account and fills up automatically after your sends.
