An FTP (File Transfer Protocol) server allows you to store, transfer, and manage files between a computer and a server via a network. This protocol is commonly used to automate data exchange between different applications.
With Sarbacane, you can automatically synchronize the contacts of a list from a file uploaded to an FTP server. The contacts contained in this file will be imported and updated in your account.
⚠️ This feature is only available with the Premium plan. If it is not available in your interface, please contact your Sarbacane account manager so that they can activate the option and define with you the storage volume.
Once the option has been activated on your account:
Go to Contacts.
Click on Settings.
Go to FTP access.
There you will find the login credentials for the FTP server, as well as the password selection to establish the connection between Sarbacane and your server.
To send your file to the server, you must use an FTP client software. FileZilla (free software) is often used as an example, but it is not mandatory. You can use any FTP software that allows you to connect to a server with your credentials.
Once connected to the FTP server:
Import your file from your computer.
Upload it to the FTP server folder.
Sarbacane will automatically synchronize the contacts contained in this file.
The behavior depends on the name of the file uploaded to the server:
Same file name: the existing list in Sarbacane is updated.
Different file name: a new contact list is created in Sarbacane.
During FTP synchronization:
New contacts present in the file are added to the list.
Existing contacts can be updated, provided that the email/phone pair is the same as during the previous synchronization.
Synchronization does not operate in mirror mode; if you delete a contact from your file, it will not be deleted automatically from Sarbacane.
Deduplication is not performed on FTP lists.
