The processing of personal data encompasses any operation or series of operations involving personal data, regardless of the means used.
These operations include the collection, recording, organisation, storage, adaptation, modification, extraction, consultation, use, disclosure by transmission or dissemination, as well as any other method of making data available or of matching data.
It is important to note that the processing of personal data is not exclusively computerised; it also extends to paper files, which must be protected in the same manner.
Each data processing activity must have a defined purpose, established in advance before the collection and use of the data. The individuals concerned by the processing of their data must be informed in a transparent manner about how their data is used.
Examples of processing activities:
Management of newsletter subscribers: collection and management of the personal information of your newsletter subscribers
Management of unsubscribe requests: processing of unsubscribe requests and updating of mailing lists accordingly
Data collection via a form: when a user completes a form, the personal data he or she provides, such as name, email address, or other specific information, is collected.
Processing of requests via a chatbot: a chatbot may collect personal information when it interacts with users, for example by asking for the visitor’s email address
