Importing contact files into Sarbacane Engage is an essential step in optimizing your marketing campaigns. Whether you are using a PC or a MAC, you will find in this section detailed instructions to perform your import.
If you are using a PC, make sure to save your file in CSV format using the semicolon as a separator. In the case of special characters such as accents, it is recommended to save the file in CSV UTF-8 format and re-import it.
On MAC, ensure that your file is saved in CSV UTF-8 format.
Important: the maximum limit for importing CSV files is 15,000 lines.
To import your contact file, follow these steps:
Go to the Contacts page via the sidebar, then click on New contact at the top right.
In the window that appears, select Select under the External file section.
On the new page, choose your file by clicking on Select a .csv file in blue or simply drag and drop the file into the Sarbacane Engage window.
Then match the columns in your file with the variables in Sarbacane Engage. Our system can automatically suggest matches. Confirm these matches by activating the toggles to the right of each suggestion. Then click Next to move on to the next step.
Select the list in which your contacts will be added. You can choose an existing list via the drop-down menu or create a new one by clicking on +.
A table will then appear to display the imported contacts and fields. You can make changes by clicking on the cells in the table. If necessary, activate the toggle button Move existing contacts to the new list.
Click Finish to complete the import.
In certain cases, adjustments may be necessary during the import:
Case no. 1: To modify or complete the contact information, click on the cells of the table in the Preview step and make your changes.
Case no. 2: If contacts already exist in your account, a message will appear and the relevant rows will be highlighted in orange. You can choose to keep the contacts in their current list or move them to the list selected during the import.
Case no. 3: If the email address (mandatory field) is not provided for certain contacts, an error message will appear at the Field selection step, asking you to revise the file.
To assign contacts to members of your team, add an owner column in your CSV file. Each row in this column must contain the email address of the user who will be the owner of the contact.
During the Field selection step, match the owner column with the special Owner field, then continue the import process.
Importing contact files into Sarbacane Engage gives you the opportunity to efficiently organize your data for targeted marketing campaigns. Follow these simple steps to import, manage, and assign your contacts with ease.
