In Sarbacane, if your open statistics drop to 0, this is due to the automatic transition of the consent field for pixel tracking to Inactive to comply with CNIL recommendations. To restore open measurement, you must change your contacts' consent to Active in Sarbacane Contacts.
Access the Sarbacane Contacts application.
Have proof of actual consent to tracking for the contacts you wish to reactivate.
Sarbacane has updated its tracking pixel to comply with CNIL recommendations requiring prior consent from recipients to measure the opening of marketing emails.
During the update, all existing contacts were set by default to Inactive status. This setting ensures legal compliance by avoiding tracking opens without recorded proof. As long as the field remains Inactive, the tracking pixel is not inserted and opens are no longer counted, which results in statistics displaying 0 for the affected lists.
Each contact record in Sarbacane Contacts now integrates two fields:
Email pixel tracking consent: status Active or Inactive.
Pixel tracking consent date: date of consent recording or modification.
Two methods allow you to set the Email pixel tracking consent field to Active:
Method 1: Direct update in Sarbacane Contacts If you already have proof of consent from your recipients, directly modify the consent field on the relevant contact records in Sarbacane Contacts.
Method 2: Re-import your contact list If your consent proofs are not centralized in the application, re-import your contact file by associating your consent column with the pixel tracking field.
Important: set this field to Active only for contacts for whom you actually hold proof of consent. Enabling tracking without valid consent exposes you to a risk of legal non-compliance.
As soon as the status is updated to Active, the consent date automatically updates and open rate measurement resumes from your next send.
