Before each send, including a test send, Sarbacane has your campaign checked by its moderation team. Although the algorithm is able to do this most of the time, it sometimes needs a human to perform a final check. If an element does not comply with the sending rules, the campaign is rejected and the reason is given to you: correct the issue, then restart the send.
A Sarbacane Campaigns license.
Access to the inbox for the email address associated with your Sarbacane account, where the rejection email is sent.
Open the rejection email sent by Sarbacane. It states the reason and what needs to be corrected.
If you haven't received this email, in Sarbacane Campaigns, open “Campaigns > My campaigns.
Find the tile for the rejected campaign: it displays a badge with a red cross.
Hover over the badge to display the reason for rejection.
Look for this reason in the Troubleshooting section below and apply the indicated correction.
Resend the campaign.
Best practice : send a test once you have made the correction. The test also goes through moderation, allowing you to check that the issue has been resolved before the actual send.
Every campaign must contain an unsubscribe link that recipients can see and use.
Reason | What you can do |
Unsubscribe link missing | Add an unsubscribe link to your campaign. |
Link hidden by color | The link is the same color as the background. Choose a color that contrasts with the background. |
Link hidden by line breaks | Line breaks push the link out of view. You’ll need to remove them. |
Link too small | Increase the link text size so it’s readable. |
Landing page error | The link doesn’t open a page that lets people unsubscribe. Check the link address. |
Link language differs from message | The unsubscribe page must be in the campaign’s language: A campaign in French must contain unsubscribe text in French. |
Reason | What you can do |
Non-compliant | The content does not comply with Sarbacane's acceptable use policy. Review the policy and edit your message accordingly. |
Template | The template still contains placeholder text (lorem ipsum). Replace it with your actual content. |
Personal | Sarbacane Campaigns is for sending marketing communications. For a personal or internal message, such as a message to your colleagues, use your usual email service. |
Images | Some images are not displaying. Check each image in the preview, reimport them, and then send a test. |
Reason | What you can do |
Hard bounce | Your list contains too many invalid addresses (hard bounces). Check your contact list and clean it up if it is outdated. |
Blocked domain | Your sending domain was created less than 48 hours ago. Spamhaus blocks new domains during this period to prevent spam. Wait 48 hours after creating the domain, then try sending again. |
Incorrect domain name configuration | Your sending domain is incorrectly configured. Check its configuration with your domain host. |
Other | The rejection is accompanied by a message explaining the reason in the email you received. Read it and apply the requested fix. |
Moderation does not take place continuously at all hours:
on weekdays, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., campaigns are moderated continuously, usually within a few minutes;
on weekdays, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., and on weekends, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., moderation is a little slower.
Note : For an important campaign planned for the evening or weekend, schedule it during the day on a weekday, when moderation is fastest.
