What is data processing?

This help center is dedicated to the new version of our software, Sarbacane Suite. Users of the previous version, Sarbacane Sunrise, can find here the help center associated with that version of the software.
Data processing of personal data encompasses any operation or series of operations involving personal data, regardless of the means used.
These operations include collection, recording, organization, storage, adaptation, alteration, retrieval, consultation, use, transmission, or dissemination by any means, as well as any other method of making data available or connecting data.
It's important to note that personal data processing is not exclusively computerized; it also extends to paper files, which must be protected in the same way.
Each data processing activity must have a defined purpose, a pre-established goal before the data is collected and used. Individuals affected by the processing of their data must be transparently informed about how their data is being used.
Examples of data processing include:
- Managing subscribers to your newsletter: collecting and managing personal information of newsletter subscribers.
- Handling unsubscribe requests: processing unsubscribe requests and updating lists accordingly.
- Data collection through a form: when a user fills out a form, the personal data they provide, such as their name, email address, or other specific information, is collected.
- Processing requests via a chatbot: a chatbot can collect personal information when interacting with users, for example, by requesting the visitor's email address.
