File Format and Special Characters:
If you are using a PC, ensure to save your file in CSV format using a semicolon as the separator. In case of special characters such as accents, it's recommended to save the file in CSV UTF-8 format and re-import it.
On Mac, make sure your file is saved in CSV UTF-8 format.
Important: the maximum limit for importing CSV files is 15,000 lines.
Import Procedure:
To import your contact file, follow these steps:
- Go to the "Contacts" page via the sidebar, then click on "New contact" at the top right.
- In the window that appears, select "Select" under the "External file" section.
- On the new page, choose your file by clicking on "Select a .csv file" in blue or simply drag the file into the Sarbacane Engage window.
- Then, associate the columns of your file with the variables of Sarbacane Engage. Our system can automatically suggest matches. Validate these matches by activating the toggles to the right of each suggestion. Click "Next" to proceed to the next step.
- Select the list in which your contacts will be added. You can choose an existing list via the dropdown menu or create a new one by clicking on "+".
- A table will then appear to display the contacts and the imported fields. You can make modifications by clicking on the cells of the table. If necessary, activate the toggle "Move existing contacts to the new list".
- Click "Finish" to finalize the import.
Managing Import Cases:
In some cases, adjustments may be needed during the import:
- Case #1: To modify or complete the information of the contacts, click on the cells of the table in the "Preview" step and make your changes.
- Case #2: If contacts already exist in your account, a message will appear, and the concerned lines will be colored orange. You can choose to keep the contacts in their current list or move them to the selected list during import.
- Case #3: If the email address (mandatory field) is not specified for some contacts, an error message will appear in the "Select Fields" step, asking you to review the file.
Assigning Contacts to Team Members
To assign contacts to members of your team, add an "owner" column in your CSV file. Each line of this column must contain the email address of the user who will own the contact.
During the "Select Fields" step, match the "owner" column with the special "Owner" field and then continue the import process.
