Sarbacane Contacts: how to import contacts into a list?
This help center is dedicated to the new version of our software: Sarbacane Suite. If you are a user of the previous version, Sarbacane Sunrise, you can find here the help center related to this version of the software. The update of your account to switch to Sarbacane Suite will be proposed to you shortly by our teams.
In this guide, we will explain how to import contacts into a new list or enrich an existing contact list, so you can then use them for sending campaigns via email or SMS through Sarbacane Campaigns.
Importing contacts into a new list
Once you have created your contact list and selected your list type, you need to import your recipients to populate it.
You then have the option to complete this list by:
- Importing a .xlsx, .txt, or .csv file: Sarbacane will automatically detect the names of the columns (in the first line of your file).
You can either drag and drop your file into the dotted box or click on "Browse," which will open a dialog box allowing you to navigate through your file explorer.
The size of imported files is limited to 100 MB.
- Manual entry: this option adds a line to your recipient database and allows you to enter contact information yourself. You can manually manage the addition of new columns if needed.
By default, a "source" column allows you to identify the insertion mode of your different contacts. This can be useful if your list has been enriched several times by different types of imports.
- Copy/paste: copy and paste a list of emails you have available. Be careful, you must separate each address by a comma, semicolon, tabulation, or newline.
If you wish to import contacts containing phone numbers, you can assign a default formatting to numbers without a country code based on the recipients' country. Note, it is only possible to add one default country code per imported database.
Enriching an already created contact list
To add new recipients to an already existing list, when you are on the list, click on the ellipsis to the right of the list name, then on “Add contacts” and choose your import mode.
As in the initial contact import step, you will have the choice to import additional contacts by importing a file, entering them by hand, or copy/pasting your addresses.
Sarbacane will ask if you want to replace the existing list or complement it.
If you are looking to complement your current list by importing a new file, ensure (as much as possible) that your file contains the same types of data as the current list.
If not, a mapping will be proposed to establish correspondences between the columns of your file and those of the existing list.
A correspondence is automatically established when the system detects that an existing column has the same title as a column in the new file being imported.
Some columns will need to be manually associated in certain cases. To establish a correspondence, click on one of the arrows to the right of your screen to select a column from your new file to match with an existing column.
If no column from your new file corresponds to the existing column, you can create a new column by clicking on "+ New column" below the mapping table. You can also decide not to associate any data from your new file with an existing column by indicating <None> in front of the existing column.
